Goblin Grins | Fried Yam Bat Sandwich | Halloween pops | Pumpkin Bites


Goblin Grins

Ingredients:
  • Pea pod-1
  • Red bell pepper-1
  • Slivered almonds
Instructions:
  1. Take a pea pod and use knife to cut a portion of it at one side.
  2. Use your hand and knife together to make a tongue shape from a red bell pepper. Then put in the top of the red pepper in the pea pod through the opening of the pea pod.
  3. Decorate this with few slivered almonds. It should look like teeth.

Fried Yam Bat Sandwich

Ingredients (organic when possible):
  • Yams
  • Mini bead loaf in dark color (pumpernickel or whole wheat)
  • 3. Long and flat slices of sandwich pickles.
  • 4. Red leaf lettuce
  • 5. Mustard, Ketchup, eggless mayo such as veganaise
  • 6. Vegetable oil
Instructions
  1. Prep yams.
  2. Slice yams into 1/8” – 1/4” thick disks after washing and peeling it. A mandolin slicer can make your job easier.
  3. Use mini cookie cutters to slice spooky shapes into the centre of the disks.
  4. If you want then you can always use a knife and your creativity to make some interesting shapes.
  5. Fry vegetable oil in the frying pan.
  6. Keep the shapes unchanged inside the discs when you fry them on a medium temperature.
  7. Fry until they can be pierced with fork.
  8. It should not take more than 1 minute on each side.
  9. It should look beautiful and retain its color. Be careful and don’t overcook.
  10. Try to enhance its flavor. Slice pickles in half before you assemble them.
  11. Make layers properly to see each of the colors and ingredients.

Halloween pops

Ingredients:
  • Wooden pop sticks-6 or 8 inches
  • Sticky worms
  • Sugar-2 cups
  • Corn syrup-2 to 3 cups
  • Water-2 to 3 cups
  • vanilla extract- 1/4 teaspoon
  • Lemon, orange, or cherry extract- 1/4 teaspoon
  • Orange food coloring- Few drops
Instructions:
  1. Take a baking pan and lay a silicone sheet on it.
  2. Make a gummy worm triangle by placing sticks on the pan.
  3. Put 3 pieces of gooey worms on top of the tip of each stick.
  4. Use a small, dirt free and dry saucepan to blend sugar, corn syrup and water.
  5. Boil it on a high temperature until the temperature of the pan reaches 305 degree F.
  6. Use a pastry brush, dipped in water to wash any sugar crystals which are stuck at the sides of the pan.
  7. When the temperature reaches 305 degree F then quickly remove the pan from heat and dip its bottom part into an ice bath for few seconds.
  8. You should be careful about the candy, it should not be cooked.
  9. Use a wooden spoon to stir tenderly after adding extracts and food coloring. Colors should be equally distributed.
  10. Put the syrup over the sticky gummy worms, just over the stick.
  11. Cool the candy for approximately 20 minutes.
  12. Serve it immediately after lifting the silicone.

Pumpkin Bites

Ingredients:
  • Pumpkin or butternut squash- 1 pound.
  • Dense German style rye or pimpernickle bread- 6 thin slices
  • Basil Pesto- ½ cup
  • Small sprigs watercress- 24
Instructions:
  1. Take a 1¼ inch round cookie cutter.
  2. At first cut 24 separate balls from pumpkin piece or butternut squash.
  3. Steam until tender for approximately 8 minutes.
  4. Cool it.
  5. Then cut out 6 rounds from each slice of bread and spread each round with ½ teaspoon pesto.
  6. Use pumpkin balls as toppings (on top of pesto).
  7. Pierce each pumpkin ball once using a toothpick and attach watercress spring in hole.
