The festival begins with a procession which is well decorated with elephants and camels. It recreates the excellent and wonderful glory days of Mughals.
Tourists flock to the premise of Taj Mahotsav to get mesmerized with the marvelous and artistic creations of artisans. Silk wall carpet, marble models of the Taj Mahal, gems and jewels in long thread strands and furniture are few items which are sold in this annual handicrafts festival of Shilpgram. Tourists can watch various handicraft items of different states of India. Each of these items depicts special touch and flavor of the specific Indian state. Renowned shawl and carpets of Kashmir, marble and zardozi work of Agra, bamboo and crane work of North- East India, famous kanthi stitch of Paschimbanga and many more regional items make the festival even more attractive and appealing to the tourists.
Even though the assortments of handicrafts will amuse everyone but buyers should not be restless in buying items. Take a tour of the whole fair at least once to get the best price of an item. Bargaining is possible.
Food stalls in the fair premise offer delicious cuisines like Lucknavi Kabab, Chhole Bhature and Indian Samosa.
Folk and classical music lovers will be entertained and pleased by the musical concerts and melodious performances. Various famous artists from various corners of India and abroad congregate at Agra during the Taj Mahotsav. Various regional dance performances are staged in their oldest forms. Reputed and honorable artists who are classically and semi classically trained are gathered on the fair premise as well during the Taj Mahotsav.
