dandiya

It's dandiya time! Organize a great Navratri party for your kids and their pals!
Music

Make sure you have at least 2 music album compilation of your favorite dandia songs or navratri music. That should be more than enough for your party. Try and get your hands on a Falguni Pathak's dandia songs.

INVITATION

decorationsSend out lovely, ethnic invitations decorated with sequins, colorful thread work that you can easily craft out yourself. Here is one idea; Take some yellow and orange  paint and make bunches of three dots on the corner of the card. Make a beautiful Om sign on the top center of the card, and, with a gold pen, write out the invitation. The best idea is however sending out some beautiful Navratri invitation card from DeepestFeelings.

DRESS CODE
Make sure you include the dress code in the invitation card. which should be the traditional garba attire for everyone.

The children could bring their own dandiya sticks along, or you could distribute sticks at the party. Take a 'mauli' and tie some tiny jingle bells to each dandiya stick.

FOOD
Simple menus are always the way to go. Just make sure the kids don't overeat and enjoy their meal.

Menu 1

Cucumber & Green Chutney (mild) Sandwiches
Chips
Juice Boxes
Kaju Katli (kids love this - they call it "Indian Diamonds")

Menu 2

Idli or Mini Idlis with Mild Green Chutney (kids will love this portable snack)
Mini Samosas
Bugles or Doritos
Strawberry or Banana Milk Shake (don't make it too thick in consistency)
Tiny Gulab Jamun

PARTY GIFTS
Children love receiving presents at any party. So give all the girls ghungroos, and the boys, saffron cotton scarves, which they can tie around their waist or forehead.

THEME : NAVRATRI NIGHT
This is a party theme for the grownups, however the kids can also join in to elevate the fun aspect of the party.

DECORATIONS
diyasDecorated Candles are a great way to put together a sophisticated color theme.  They add an extra glow to the party mood as well as the ambience.
I'm sure you guys are not going to miss out decorating your home
