Paper Craft
Make a cute, 3D ornament for Valentine's Day. A simple paper
craft, yet a great decoration that you can hang around the room. |
Things needed:
Two sturdy paper plates
Crayons/paint/markers
Scissors
Glue stick
A long length of thick colorful yarn (works better than thin
string) or ribbon (optional)
A puncher (optional) |
 |
Instructions:
Take two sturdy paper plates. With crayons/paint/markers, draw on
one of them a heart of the size that you want. As it's Valentine,
paint it red. (Or you may color it according to your wish). This
will be your template.
Cut out from the other plate a heart of the same size as the
template piece. Adult assistance may be required in doing this.
Cut on one of the dotted line right up to the center.
Pick out the two matching hearts.
Slide the hearts together, top to bottom.
Glue a ribbon or thread onto the top (or hole punch a small hole
and tie a ribbon/thread through it)
Your 3D Valentine heart is ready. |
Options:
In case you are not too happy with simply coloring the template,
you can try out an innovation:
Things needed:
Sparkle glue or silver sparkles
Salt Drip
3 parts flour
1 part salt
Food coloring (Preferably red, which would go well with the
occasion)
Water
A small wooden stick (Preferably a Popsicle stick)
Grated chalk
Sandpaper
Glue stick
Instructions:
Mix together the flour, salt, food coloring, and enough water to
make a dripping consistency. See that the mixture doesn't get too
runny.
Use the popsicle stick to drip it onto paper shapes. Dry hard and
sparkly.
Take a piece of chalk and rub it with course sandpaper to get
chalk dust.
Pour the dust over glue covered paper. It would be nice to use
pink chalk dust.
NOTE: In case you don't want to go into the hassles of
coloring your 3D heart, you can cut out a red construction paper
of the same size and paste it on your template. |
