A Tale of Light

In the heart of autumn's gentle breeze,
A festival of light and joy, we seize.
Diwali's glow, a radiant display,
Chasing darkness, lighting up our way.

A symphony of colors, a grand parade,
With lamps and diyas, our paths are laid.
In every home, a warm and welcome sight,
As we celebrate this festival of light.

The sky adorned with fireworks so bright,
Illuminating the ebony canvas of night.
A burst of splendor, like stars that gleam,
In celebration of a cherished dream.

Families gather, love and laughter shared,
Sweets and treats, a feast with those who cared.
A time for forgiveness, for hope anew,
Diwali's message, to the world, we construe.

Goddess Lakshmi, with grace, she arrives,
Bringing prosperity to our humble lives.
We light the way to invite her in,
Hoping her blessings will cleanse our sin.

The triumph of good over evil proclaimed,
In tales of old, our heritage named.
Diwali's story, a timeless ode,
To values, virtues, and a righteous road.

So let us rejoice, in unity we stand,
Hand in hand, across the land.
Diwali, a festival of love and grace,
A radiant smile on each and every face.

In this festival of lights, so grand,
Let's spread happiness across the land.
Diwali's magic, in our hearts, does dwell,
A tale of light, we're here to tell.

A Poem for Diwali

As echelons of zillion lights adorn,
and echoes of triumph and thunder swarm,
watching even a tiny gleam perform,
devoring ill,
sparkling joy despite forlorn,
exhorts a hearty & happy year merely born

Happy Diwali poem with the background of three diyas

Diwali is delight

Diwali is delight, Diwali is delight
No dark night , Everywhere light
Things are bright , Diwalli is delight
Have sweet bite , Fireworks at height
Joyful sight , Diwali is delight
Bliss and peace we should invite
On this lit diwali night
Let the glow be bright and bright
Nothing dark should be inside
Let not crackers show their might
Nor should smoke reach new height
Let not pollution sharply brite
Do what you can in this fight
Let's enjoy the tasty diet
But for display it's only light
Diwali is delight , Diwali is delight.

Diwali poem in Hindi and English

Happy Diwali

It's the "Festival of Lights" today,
It's again the day of Diwali,
It's time to dress up folks,
It's time to adorn the thali.

It's the occasion to throng the temples,
Pray to the Gods and give them offerings,
It's an opportunity to entreat the deities,
To bless us all and rid us of sufferings.

It's the day to light the diyas,
Ignite the rockets and burst crackers,
But it's also the time to be safe,
From the fireworks and all the sparklers.

It's the season to pay a visit,
To all our friends and relations,
To hand them over sweets and presents,
Diwali is our splendid chance.

But while you spend a time of joy,
Don't think it's merriment all the way,
Out there wait many of those,
For whom it's no time to be gay.

Denied of laughter and smiles for days,
They know not what it is to enjoy,
Can you not share something you have,
Can you not bring them a little joy?

When you can make someone else smile
When you can be someone's ally
That's when you can yourself be glad
That's when you'll have a HAPPY DIWALI!

Diwali

Today's the ‘Festival of Lights’ all o'er;
A joyful day for minds and hearts and souls;
And people throng the Temples to offer,
Prayers, resolving to take better roles.
And most of them are richly clad and clean,
And eat such dainty foods and sweets with mirth;
Whilst noisy crackers burst, their lights are seen,
It seems to be a happy day on Earth!
But are there not hearts woe-filled, very sad?
Denied of laughter, smiles for days;
Today's the triumph of Good over bad;
But what about the wastage in much ways?
True joy is when you see someone else smile!
True charity gives joy in Heav'nly style.

Ayi Re Ayi Diwali

Ayi Re Ayi Diwali
Patakhe tohfe layi Diwali
Dil ko khush karne ayi Diwali
Ayi re ayi diwali
Ayi re ayi diwali
Maze karte huye bacche dekho
Mummy ka na Papa ka dar hai
School ka na Teacher ka dar hai
Bulb fool lagate Papa
Mandir sajati dekho Mummy
Bacche hain khelte koodte
Pathako main ekdum must hai
Khaana dekho banati chachi
Chocolate khate dekho chacha
Bhagwanji ki puja main sab
Shish jhukn ke baithe dekho
Arti lekar or parshaad khaakar
Jhoom utha saara parivaar
Ayi re ayi diwali
Ayi re ayi diwali
Khushiya dekho lai diwal
Ayi Re Ayi Diwali

Deepavali

The clear blue sky,
The scent of flowers,
The colours of Rangoli,
And the sound of crackers.

The gifts and sweets from dear ones,
And the getting of their love,
The light of the candles below,
And the dazzling fireworks up above.

Lighting lamps at our homes,
Making the less fortunate smile,
Putting on new apparels,
Show our friends some style.

Paying respects to the gods,
And decorating for them the thali,
This is what the occasion is all about,
This is the spirit of Deepavali.

Maa Kali

Maa Kali

Naked and fierce,
Burning with anger,
Stands the Goddess,
Great is her hunger.

Machete in her hands,
Slashing at her will,
She knows no bounds,
And runs around to kill.

She can't recognise,
Sinner or saint,
In her mission to kill the evils,
She has lost her restraint.

And then she steps on something,
What is it? She looks below,
To her horror she finds her Lord,
Supine, lying beneath her toe.

Great is her shame at what she sees,
In her great fury she had spared none,
It needed Lord Shiva to stop her rage,
She bites her tongue at what she has done.

And thus we know the great Maa Kali,
Ashamed, repentant for being blindly furious
She stands for the two sides in ourselves,
With the good trying to rule the evil in us.

So every year we worship her,
Each year we pay her our homages,
And this is how "Kali Puja",
Goes on and on for ages.
