The festival is popularly known as a festival of worshipping Surya, the Sun-God. Human beings who live their lives on this world pay a tribute to the Surya for creating bounties of lives on earth. Followers ask the Sun God to fulfill their worldly desires and wishes. Devotees believe Surya from the core of their hearts. It's a devotional submission of the devotees to both the rising and setting Sun.
Some of the followers of this tradition believe that they will be blessed with a son child if they worship and respect Surya. On the other hand, disciples who already have a son, they pray to Surya for good health and long life of their sons.
