The strips of the paper have to be soaked into the liquid starch for approximately 10 minutes. Take a large bowl and keep the liquid starch in it.
Turn the round shaped bowl upside down after taking the lid off.
Cover the bowl and lid entirely by the paper strips.
Set the bowl and lid aside to dry.
Add the layers of the newspaper strips on the bowl and lid thrice. Dry the layer of strips before adding another one.
The paper towels should be soaked into the starch. Make two bird shapes. Attach these birds on top of the lid using glue and more starched paper towels.
Set aside the bowl and lid for couple of days and dry.
Use sands on the rims of the bowl and lid.
Keep it aside for some time.
Paint the bowl and lid completely with dark color using brush.
Cut out 10x14 inches Burlap along the 14 inches side.
Fold the burlap one inch downside to form a tube.
The bottom of the tube should be sewed and the sides should be kept open as you can thread a ribbon through it to make the drawstring.
Tie the ribbon to a safety pin and don't forget to thread it through the tube. Then make a knot.
Draw some figures to decorate the bag and write down the word Kwanzaa in front of the bag.
Use red, black and green color threads to sew along the word “Kwanzaa” and other drawn figures. To place the drawstring at the top, fold the bag in half. Design should be places on the inside portion of the bag.
The sides of the bag have to be stitched together. Turn the bag right side out.
The bag can be an impressive gift for your loved ones.
